Duane Morris Welcomes Two Construction Law Partners to the Washington, D.C. Office

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 8, 2007 - Duane Morris is pleased to welcome partners Daniel Toomey and Tamara McNulty, both formerly of Venable LLP, to the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Dan and Tamara join the firm's Trial Practice Group, focusing on construction litigation and government contracts.

The firm's Construction, Government Contracts and Surety Law Practice Group has seen significant growth in the past year, adding six partners in three offices since October 2006. The arrival of Dan and Tamara marks a further strengthening of the practice firmwide, and will be the basis for continued strategic expansion for the practice in the Washington, D.C. area.

Daniel Toomey, a well-respected litigator with more than 30 years of experience, focuses his practice in the areas of construction contracts and disputes, government contracts and appellate litigation. He has more than 15 years of experience in alternate dispute resolution matters. He has represented contractors, subcontractors, sureties, owners and design firms in numerous litigation matters, such as breach of contract, payment and performance bond claims, Dan has also counseled clients in government contract representation and general business matters, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing construction contracts. In addition to his litigation practice, he serves as a trained mediator and counsel to parties undergoing ADR actions. In these roles, he has successfully resolved many construction contract disputes and has gained favorable settlements on behalf of clients.

A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Dan was a team leader for 25 years and co-founder of the Georgetown University Law Center/National Institute for Trial Advocacy's (NITA) Annual Intensive Session on Trial Advocacy Skills. Dan is the program director for the NITA Washington D.C. Advanced Trial Advocacy Program and has taught construction contracts and criminal trial practices at Georgetown University Law Center. In addition, he is a member of the Advisory Committee to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the Washington Building Congress and the National Bond Claims Association. Dan frequently speaks and is widely published regarding construction matters.

Dan received his J.D. from Georgetown University in 1967 and his B.A. from St. Peter's College in 1964.

Tamara McNulty is an experienced trial attorney and concentrates her practice on complex commercial litigation, particularly construction disputes, government contracts and surety law. She has represented owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, sureties and architects in matters involving payment and performance claims, and has negotiated and drafted many significant construction contracts. Tamara is also experienced in issues relating to alternative dispute resolution, representing clients in mediations and arbitration in a wide array of construction-related matters.

Tamara is a member of the Litigation and Tort Trial & Insurance Practice sections of the American Bar Association, the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry and the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee. She is a frequent speaker for and member of the National Bond Claims Association and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. Tamara serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington Building Congress. In addition, Tamara is a frequent speaker and author on construction law and litigation matters, including having written two books on construction law.

Tamara received her J.D. and B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in 1995 and 1991, respectively. She is admitted to practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland and Wisconsin.
