Duane Morris Attorney Named President of the Association for Corporate Growth San Diego
SAN DIEGO, December 28, 2007 - Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that P. Blake Allen, partner in the Corporate Practice Group in the firm's San Diego office, has been elected president of the San Diego chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). Currently a member of the chapter's Board of Directors, his one-year term will begin on January 1, 2008.
The Association for Corporate Growth was founded in 1954 and is a global organization for professionals involved in all aspects of corporate growth, development, and mergers and acquisitions. ACG has more than 12,000 members from companies throughout the world who are dedicated to bettering their businesses through networking, deal making, speaking on relevant issues and trade-related conferences. The San Diego chapter boasts approximately 200 members from the city's most prominent industries and companies.
Blake plans to use his presidency to bring together local deal makers, executives and corporate lawyers to learn from previous successes and challenges they have faced while working on mergers and acquisitions as well as other transactional work. He anticipates an active year for the chapter, with lectures, conferences and seminars aimed at making the organization the premier place to learn about the intricacies of deal making. He will work closely with speakers, helping them to increase the value of the programs for members. In addition, Blake plans to forge connections with ACG's Orange County chapter and build relationships with the region's business leaders to benefit companies in both counties.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to lead the San Diego chapter of ACG during such a crucial period for the corporate world," Blake said. "I look forward to this opportunity as I anticipate a year of growth, education and great success for our members."
Blake focuses his practice in the area of corporate law, with an emphasis on securities and public company representation. He has an extensive background in SEC reporting obligations for companies traded on the NYSE and NASDAQ. Blake regularly advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, disclosure issues, corporate governance, insider trading compliance and related party transactions. In addition, he is a frequent author and speaker on corporate issues and trends.
Blake received his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and his M.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma College of Business, both in 1990, and earned his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1986.
