Duane Morris Welcomes Trial Partner Glenn Manishin to Washington, D.C. Office
January 10, 2008
WASHINGTON, D.C., January 10, 2008 - Duane Morris LLP welcomes Glenn Manishin as a partner in the Trial Practice Group in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Formerly a partner with Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, Manishin focuses on antitrust, telecommunications and technology policy litigation matters.
Manishin is a prominent high-tech attorney who concentrates his practice on the impact of convergence, and related legal uncertainty, between legacy industries and the new economy. He has represented major software and Internet-related companies in litigation involving antitrust, cybersecurity, privacy, standards, Internet regulation, spam, domain name competition and intellectual property. Manishin has served as lead trial and appellate counsel in many high-profile technology cases arising out of regulation and competition in network effects markets and on the interface between intellectual property and competition law. This includes a 2004 appellate reversal of the FCC's media concentration rules, the largest reported jury verdict in Maryland in 2005 and the first federal litigation challenging the regulated status of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology. His practice also includes capital structuring and other transactions in the technology industry. At Kelley Drye, Manishin served as the regional chair of the firm's Litigation Practice Group in Washington, D.C.
A respected writer and speaker on cybersecurity and telecom issues, Manishin was counsel for ProComp, the leading coalition of competitive software companies opposing the government's settlement of United States v. Microsoft, perhaps the most significant antitrust case in history, and wrote the Software and Information Industry Association's earlier white paper advocating divesture, or breakup, of Microsoft. He has appeared as a commentator on national news broadcasts and has been quoted in major newspapers nationwide. In addition, he has written several articles on technology and antitrust law for general and specialty legal publications, and has frequently lectured on the subject. Manishin was previously antitrust counsel and a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Federal Communications Bar Association.
Manishin earned his J.D. from Columbia University, where he was an editor of the Columbia Law Review. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Brandeis University.
