Duane Morris Welcomes Two IP Attorneys to Its Houston Office; Additions Expand the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice

HOUSTON, January 16, 2008 - Duane Morris LLP is pleased to welcome Thomas Sankey and Gregory Luck to the firm's Houston office as partners in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. The addition of these lawyers furthers the firm's commitment to its intellectual property practice, which has grown by nearly 50 percent in the last four years.

Thomas Sankey, formerly of Thompson & Knight, has extensive intellectual property and commercial litigation experience, focusing on patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, unfair competition, employer/employee disputes and the Lanham Act. Sankey has represented inventors, medical supply companies, medical R&D companies, electronic device companies and others. He also is Board Certified in the area of Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

He has also handled appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court as well as Texas Courts of Appeal and the Texas Supreme Court.

Sankey received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1986 and received his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee in 1983.

Gregory Luck, formerly of Thompson & Knight LLP, focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and licensing. He has handled patent litigation matters in technological areas involving optical disc discrimination systems, computer disk drives, holographic imaging systems, telecommunications systems, solar cell technology and marine seismic tools. He represents clients in patent litigation involving blow out prevention systems, down hole tools, metering pumps, PDC cutters, drilling muds and flare ignition systems, as well as coin discrimination systems and medical devices. Luck is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has also handled appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Luck's writing has appeared in numerous publications. He wrote "Sanctions Under the New Federal Rule 11 – A Closer Look" for the Florida Bar Journal and was co-author of "The Implied License: An Evolving Defense to Patent Infringement" for IP Litigator. He also was a contributing author for Patent Law Handbook.

Luck received his J.D., cum laude, from South Texas College of Law in 1986 and his B.S. from Texas A&M University in 1982.
