Duane Morris Associate Appointed to Board of South Asian Bar Association Chapter in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, November 18, 2008 - Mehrin Masud-Elias of Duane Morris LLP was recently appointed secretary of the Philadelphia chapter of the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) and a member of the board.
Masud-Elias, a Duane Morris associate in corporate law, has been a member of SABA in Philadelphia for three years. As part of the nine-member board, she planned the organization's Fall Women's Dinner in 2008. The event provided a networking opportunity for South Asian women lawyers and students. In addition, she serves on a 15-member planning committee overseeing the 2009 National South Asian Bar Association Convention, to be held in Vancouver on June 25-28, 2009. She was previously a board member of SABA's Greater Boston chapter for two years.
The South Asian Bar Association is a nationwide bar association for South Asian attorneys and law students. SABA chapters coordinate seminars, conferences, receptions with dignitaries, mentoring programs, awareness campaigns, networking events and recruiting events for law students.
At Duane Morris, Masud-Elias practices in the area of corporate law with a concentration in mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, strategic alliances, business law and finance and securities regulation. She also counsels clients in corporate governance matters and licensing and other technology-related transactions.
She is a 2001 graduate of Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and articles editor of the Columbia Human Rights Law Review, and a magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Masud-Elias also studied Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
