Duane Morris Partner Steven Richman Appointed Secretary of the International Sales Committee of the International Bar Association
PRINCETON, March 23, 2009 - Steven M. Richman, a partner in the Trial and International practice groups in the firm's Princeton office, has been appointed secretary of the International Sales Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). The appointment to this leadership position is part of Richman's extensive experience with international law issues.
The IBA is the world's leading organization of international lawyers, bar associations and law societies, and influences the development of international law reform. The International Sales Committee promotes educational programs and publications relating to international commerce legal issues.
Richman has more than two decades of experience in the areas of commercial and international law and litigation, including trade regulation counseling, secured transactions, intellectual property, bankruptcy and antitrust. He is secretary of the board of trustees of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and former chair of the International Law Section. Richman is also an adjunct professor of international business law at The College of New Jersey, as well as a member of the advisory board of that institution's Global Business Alliance.
Within the American Bar Association, Richman has twice received the Outstanding Subcommittee Chair award within the Litigation Section, as well as an award for Outstanding Newsletter Editor for the Trial Practice Committee newsletter. He currently is co-chair of the International Litigation Committee of the ABA International Law Section, a member of the ABA House of Delegates and a member of the ABA Human Rights Institute Advisory Council. Richman also is co-communications officer of the Professional Ethics Committee. He has written numerous legal articles on federal civil practice and international, bankruptcy, commercial and constitutional law and political issues and is a frequent CLE lecturer. He has contributed to books on federal practice and media, entertainment and art law.
Admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and California, Richman is a 1980 graduate of New York University Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, and a graduate of Drew University.
