June 29, 2009
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 29, 2009—Duane Morris' team of "green" lawyers—accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) professionals—has three new members. Jennifer Cook, Sejal Shah and Michael Splete, of the firm's Energy, Environment and Resources Practice Group, have earned designations as LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED AP).
Jennifer D. Cook practices in the areas of energy and utilities law and litigation. She has been involved in the full array of issues facing Regional Transmission Organizations / Independent System Operators (RTOs/ISOs), including transmission pricing, congestion management, hedging instruments, and independent transmission company integration. Cook also has been actively involved in a wide range of matters related to relicensing hydropower facilities.
Sejal C. Shah focuses her practice on electricity, natural gas and pipeline matters. Shah has extensive experience in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) litigation and regulatory compliance for both RTOs/ISOs as well as investor-owned utilities. She is actively involved in a number of complex FERC proceedings, including market design, tariff and rate schedule proceedings.
Michael A. Splete concentrates his practice on matters related to generator interconnection, energy markets and regulation. Splete has experience in a variety of regulatory topics, including interconnection agreements under FERC Orders 2003 and 2006, and analysis of market power, market-based rates and mergers, holding companies and affiliates by FERC.
Other Duane Morris attorneys with LEED accreditations include construction attorneys Edward B. Gentilcore, Tamara M. McNulty and Michael J. Hogan, and real estate attorneys Jonathan E. Maslow and Alejandra J. Ramirez.
The U.S. Green Building Council has established and continues to administer both a LEED-accreditation program for professionals and a LEED-certification program for buildings, which provides accepted standards and recognition for green-building construction or renovation.
