Duane Morris Partner Sheila Slocum Hollis Honored at University of Denver Law School International Law Weekend

Sheila HollisWASHINGTON, D.C., April 13, 2012—Sheila Slocum Hollis of Duane Morris LLP will speak on "International Law, Energy, Environment and the Future" at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law on April 13, 2012. As part of the school's International Law Anniversary Weekend, Hollis, a Sturm alumna, will be honored as an Outstanding International Alumna by the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy (DJILP), which is a publication of the college.

The DJILP has been a definitive voice in the field of international law for four decades. Published four times a year, it is an entirely student run and organized publication. The International Law Anniversary Weekend, celebrating the DJILP's 40th anniversary, will feature an academic symposium and alumni reunion.

Hollis, of the Duane Morris Washington, D.C. office, focuses her practice on domestic and international energy, water and environmental matters, representing governmental bodies as well as the power and natural gasindustries. She was the first director of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Office of Enforcement, where she established the agency's enforcement policies and procedures. Hollis has been a member of the Energy Bar Association (EBA) for more than 35 years, and was the association's first woman president. In late 2011, she accepted the Lifetime Achievement in Energy Award as part of the 13th Annual Platts Global Energy Awards. Hollis received the Paul E. Nordstrom Service Award from the EBA and the Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association in recognition of her exemplary long-term service to the organization in 2010. In addition, she has served in numerous leadership roles in the American Bar Association, including past chair of its Section of Environment, Energy and Resources; the Standing Committee on Environmental Law; and the Coordinating Group on Energy Law. Hollis is also treasurer and a board member of the United States Energy Association and chairs its nominating committee.

Hollis served as a professorial lecturer in energy law at George Washington University Law School for 20 years and is the co-author of energy law and policy texts as well as hundreds of scholarly articles. She has spoken throughout the world on energy and environmental law and policy topics. In 2009, she delivered the "Dean of the Oil and Gas Bar" lecture at a meeting of the Center for American and International Law in Houston.

At Duane Morris, Hollis serves on the firm's Executive Committee and Partners Board. Prior to earning her J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law, she graduated, cum laude, in general studies and with honors in journalism from the University of Colorado.
