Duane Morris Partner Stanley Martin Recognized as a Best Lawyers' "Lawyer of the Year" for 2013
BOSTON, December 14, 2012—Duane Morris construction law partner Stanley A. Martin of the firm's Boston office has been selected by Best Lawyers as a "Lawyer of the Year" in Construction Law for 2013. Only one lawyer in each practice area and city is given this honor. Lawyers are selected based on high marks received during the extensive peer-review assessments conducted by Best Lawyers each year.
Martin practices in the area of construction law, particularly in the areas of contract negotiation, procurement, performance and claims, arbitration and litigation. He has conducted more than 100 construction-claim trials before courts, special masters and arbitration panels. Martin has represented clients including many Engineering News Record (ENR) top-400 contractors—four among the ENR top 10—on all aspects of various construction projects.
Martin is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers and has been an active member of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and AGC of Massachusetts for 16 years. He has lectured on construction law at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Northeastern University and has written numerous construction-law texts and articles. He chaired the Massachusetts Bar Association's Public Law Section and the Construction and Public Contracts Committee. Martin has also served as chair of several committees in the American Bar Association's construction division of the Public Contract Section. He is a member of the National Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association. Martin is a 1984 graduate of Boston College Law School and has a degree in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In addition to Martin's honor, Duane Morris received top-tier national rankings by U.S. News-Best Lawyers in both Construction Law and Construction Litigation, and was selected as the 2013 "Law Firm of the Year for Construction Law," an honor given to only one law firm per practice group. The Construction Group was also ranked in the first tier in Boston, Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh and San Francisco, demonstrating the firm's geographical strength and range.
