U.S. News-Best Lawyers Gives Duane Morris Top Rankings in Maryland for Serving Private Funds and Hedge Funds, Private Equity Law and Venture Capital Law Clients
For the Second Year in a Row -- Only Law Firm in Maryland to Achieve Top-tier Ranking in Funds Practice
BALTIMORE, November 4, 2011—Duane Morris is pleased to announce that for the second year in a row it achieved a top-tier ranking in the area of private funds and hedge funds in the U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers 2011-2012 "Best Law Firms" list, the only law firm to achieve this ranking in Maryland. In addition, Duane Morris' Baltimore office again received tier-one rankings in private equity law and venture capital law.
Less than two years ago, Baltimore office managing partner George Nemphos was named chair of the firm's worldwide Corporate Practice Group, which includes more than 155 lawyers. As Baltimore managing partner, Nemphos has led the office in achieving rapid growth in both lawyer head count and scope-of-practice offerings. He has extensive experience representing both private and public companies, venture capitalists and angel investors, with particular emphasis on private equity funds and deals. He frequently represents clients in mergers and acquisitions transactions as well as securities law, compliance and general corporate matters.
The firm's Corporate Practice Group also picked up top-tier rankings in Philadelphia for general corporate law, M&A, tax and venture capital law, and in Pittsburgh for banking and finance.
In fact, the U.S. News-Best Lawyers second survey of the American legal industry cited Duane Morris practice groups in even larger numbers than last year. U.S. News-Best Lawyers 2011-2012 "Best Law Firms" awarded Duane Morris top-tier national rankings in Construction law and litigation, Immigration, Insurance and Patent law. Overall, 29 Duane Morris practice groups were nationally ranked. In the regional rankings, 34 practice groups in 12 Duane Morris offices received top-tier recognition. In total, Duane Morris secured tier-one recognition in 39 practice areas across 12 offices, with the firm's practice groups receiving a total of 104 rankings overall.
