Susan L. Shallcross is responsible for the direction and execution of all of the firm's marketing initiatives and supervises its Marketing Managers and Operational Managers. Areas under her leadership include business research, client relationship management (CRM), communications, event coordination, graphic design, media activities, proposal development and website activities. Ms. Shallcross also is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies and client satisfaction programs for the Trial practice group.
Ms. Shallcross has more than 20 years of professional services marketing and communications experience. Prior to joining Duane Morris, she served for almost 12 years as marketing and communications director at Arnold & Porter LLP in Washington, D.C. Before joining Arnold & Porter, she was a communications manager for political consulting firm Cunningham Harris & Associates and as a government/public affairs manager for Albers & Company, a corporate lobbying firm, where she also oversaw all firm marketing. Ms. Shallcross previously served as a reservist media relations manager for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and as a communications and press aide for former Rep. Richard Gephardt in his first presidential bid in 1988.
Ms. Shallcross was director of communications for the Virginia Association of Female Executives and served as vice chair of the Human Services Council for the Fairfax County, Virginia, board of supervisors.
A member of the Legal and American Marketing Associations and the Public Relations Society of America, Ms. Shallcross is a graduate of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland (M.B.A., with concentrations in strategy and management) and the University of Florida (B.A., English).
