[May 2010] Judge Phyllis W. Beck was named president of the Independence Foundation, a not-for-profit philanthropic organization serving Philadelphia and its surrounding Pennsylvania counties. Previously, Judge Beck was general counsel of The Barnes Foundation, home to one of the finest collections of nineteenth and twentieth-century French paintings in the world. Judge Beck was the first woman to serve as a judge on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
