Global Diversity Growth in 2007
The firm's recent international expansion in Asia firmly launched Duane Morris as a significant factor in a fast-growing part of the world economy. In 2007, the firm opened offices in Singapore and Vietnam, led by Duane Morris partner and former Mexican Ambassador to Singapore Eduardo Ramos-Gómez.
Duane Morris is among the top five U.S. firms in Singapore and one of two U.S.-based firms in Vietnam. The partners in our Singapore and Vietnam offices focus mainly on international corporate work and service clients in, or with interests in, Cambodia, China and Taiwan, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. The office and staff are fluent in most of the languages of the countries in which the firm services clients.
Ramos-Gómez formerly served as Mexico's Ambassador to Singapore, Negara Brunei Darussalam and the Union of Myanmar. He is a member of the Commission on Globalization World Forum, vice chair of the Mexican Law Committee of the Section of International Law and Practice for the American Bar Association and chapter chair of the International Division of International Law and Practice Section of the New York Bar Association.
A lifelong philanthropist, Ramos-Gómez raised millions of dollars in his role as Ambassador for charities, including children's homes, women's organizations, hospices and centers for the elderly. He still volunteers considerable time helping residents of Jamiyah Home for the Aged and supporting the Singapore Buddhist Lodge.
