Information Technologies and Telecom
Administrative/Regulatory
Attorneys in the IT and telecom practice group have a broad range of experience handling communications regulatory issues for traditional common carriers (telephone companies), equipment vendors (hardware manufacturers), information service providers and other "enhanced" services like Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), broadcasters and other radio spectrum licensees, unlicensed spectrum (e.g., Wi-Fi) users and mobile network operators.
Representative matters include FCC radio licensing and spectrum allocations, regulatory approval for mergers and acquisitions, federal and state policy rulemakings, enforcement proceedings, Part 15 "unlicensed" and cell phone device certification and authorization, telemarketing and telecom-related consumer protection laws (e.g., Do-No-Call, junk fax prohibitions), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) device issues, pole attachment, right of way and fiber optic facility construction.
Our practice group lawyers have represented clients on universal service fund issues, interconnection agreements, telecom and excise taxes and area code relief planning. Duane Morris' regulatory clients also include schools, colleges, electric and gas utilities and electronics equipment manufacturers, to name a few, in addition to service providers and users.
