Drawing upon our national and international resources, Duane Morris attorneys from the firm's Philadelphia, London, New York, Chicago and San Francisco offices represent a substantial portion of both the leading and following markets of Underwriters at Lloyd's, London, as insurers of numerous multinational financial institutions. Our collective experience has been put to use in both the United States and Europe: as monitoring counsel for regulatory and bankruptcy proceedings; as monitoring counsel for more than 300 consolidated class action securities cases and related antitrust actions; as coverage counsel; as litigation counsel in connection with coverage litigation; and as counsel advising with regard to legal and business relations with reinsurers.
We represented our clients in successful coverage litigation to declare a $70 million claim by an investment bank arising out of SEC and NASD regulatory proceedings uninsurable as a matter of law and public policy.

Duane Morris helped The Hartford, a large national D&O insurer, navigate through a complex securities class action claim involving a mix of difficult variables: a prominent elected official named as a defendant because of his former role with the company, an active parallel SEC investigation, a corporate acquisition gone bad, and competing sets of plaintiffs' attorneys publicly fighting for control of the case.

For Liberty International Canada, Duane Morris won a substantial, multimillion-dollar award against our client's reinsurer. The dispute involved our client's unpaid claims to its reinsurer for large losses sustained from off-lease automobile policies our client issued. After a two-week arbitration, the majority decision awarded our client the full amount of losses plus interest and all costs associated with the arbitration.
