Denyse Sabagh, head of the firm's Immigration Practice Group, was honored with the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC)'s Hala Salam Maksoud Leadership Award. Named after former ADC president and nationally recognized civil and human rights advocate Dr. Hala Salam Maksoud, the award is presented annually to a community leader who has exhibited great leadership, strength and compassion toward the concerns of the community and the mission of ADC.
Duane Morris partner Hope Krebs has been named president of the British American Business Council (BABC) of Greater Philadelphia and began serving a two-year term on July 1. During her two years in office, she plans to continue growing membership, with a particular focus on heightened involvement in the organization by younger members, and fostering innovative programming.
Jennifer A. Kearns, a partner at Duane Morris, is being honored by the Tom Homann LGBT Law Association with its annual Friend of the Community Award. The award is presented to people who have made a positive impact in San Diego and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in particular.
Patricia Hollenbeck has been elected to the board of the San Diego Lawyers Club, the premier bar association in San Diego that helps address issues of gender discrimination in the law, in the profession and in the community. Hollenbeck also serves as chair of the Judicial Endorsement Committee for the organization.
The National Association of Women Lawyers has selected Dominica Anderson to receive its Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member Award. Anderson practices in Duane Morris' San Francisco office and is the managing partner of the Las Vegas office. She focuses on insurance and commercial litigation and graduated from University of San Francisco School of Law in 1986.
Jane Dalton has been honored by Duane Morris in recognition of her leadership and contribution to women in the profession. Ms. Dalton was honored for her distinguished career as well as her continuing efforts to advance women lawyers in the profession through leadership and mentoring.
Partner Jane Leslie Dalton has been selected to receive the Philadelphia Bar Association Business Law Section's Dennis H. Replansky Memorial Award. Ms. Dalton, who was president of the Philadelphia Bar Association in 2007, was chosen for her legal accomplishments, charitable service, and leadership and mentoring skills. She also was quoted in an entry on The Legal Intelligencer's blog about a panel of former Philadelphia Bar Association chancellors giving advice to women lawyers.
Duane Morris partner Sheila Slocum Hollis has been selected by the Energy Bar Association (EBA) and the Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association (CFEBA) to receive the Paul E. Nordstrom Service Award. The award recognizes EBA members who demonstrate exemplary long-term service or a particularly significant example of public service to the community.
Duane Morris attorney Cyndie M. Chang was honored by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) as one of its 2010 "Best Lawyers Under 40." In addition, Ms. Chang was elected to NAPABA's board of governors for the 2010–2011 bar year.
Duane Morris partner Kelly D. Eckel was admitted as a member of the American Arbitration Association's Roster of Neutrals. The roster is an exclusive list of accomplished and respected practitioners from legal and business communities throughout the world.
Partner Beatrice O'Donnell has been named co-chair of the mass tort committee of the ABA Section of Litigation.
Trial partner Teresa N. Cavenagh was awarded a Powerful and Influential Women award by the National Diversity Council at the 2010 Pennsylvania Diversity and Leadership Conference. At the conference, Cavenagh presented on a panel called Strategies for Professional Success. Cavenagh, who practices in the areas of commercial, class action, fraud, RICO and qui tam litigation, also presented earlier this year at the Pennsylvania Diversity Council Women in Leadership Symposium. In addition, she is a participant of the Leadership Program sponsored by the Committee on Women in the Profession of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Partner Kate Shay has been named inaugural winner of the Philadelphia Business Journal's Life Sciences Awards.
Vicki G. Norton, Ph.D., of the San Diego office, has been appointed as chairperson of the California State Bar Committee on Administration of Justice by the State Bar Board of Governors.
Sandra A. Jeskie, co-chair of the firm's Information Technologies and Telecom interdisciplinary practice group, has been named president of the International Technology Law Association.
Cyndie Chang, an associate in Los Angeles, has been accepted to join the ABA's Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Leadership Academy for the 2010-2011 bar year. TIPS is a highly competitive program for emerging leaders.
Partner Denyse Sabagh was named as one of the 30 "Stars of the Bar" in Washingtonian magazine's listing of the "top guns of the profession" in Washington, D.C. The magazine said, "Sabagh's peers describe her as the immigration lawyer who can do it all."
Partner Lida Rodriguez-Taseff was selected to be honored by The Miami Workers Center, an organization that develops and supports community organizing campaigns and education programs. Rodriguez-Taseff was chosen for her work mobilizing thousands of Latinos in the area during the 2008 presidential campaign.
Sheila Hollis has been named a finalist for a Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the 11th Annual Platts Global Energy Awards.
Mark Lipowicz, a trial partner in Philadelphia, was elected president of the board of directors of the Women Against Abuse Legal Center. Lipowicz is a longtime member of the board of directors of Women Against Abuse, which is Pennsylvania's largest anti-domestic violence agency.
Partner Kathleen Shay was honored with a Women of Distinction award, given by the Philadelphia Business Journal and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).
The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly have selected Duane Morris' Sandra G. Stoneman among the 2008 Lawyers on the Fast Track, the future leaders of the state's legal community. A profile of Stoneman appears here.
