Christopher M. Neumeyer assists companies doing business in Asia with diverse legal and business matters, often involving intellectual property, commercial and corporate transactions, dispute resolution and regulatory compliance.  Prior to joining Duane Morris, he practiced with law firms in the U.S. and Taiwan and served as in-house counsel for Texas Instruments for the Asia Pacific Region and Legal Director at Lite-On Technology Corporation.  Mr. Neumeyer has experience with complex contract negotiations; mergers, acquisitions and investments; antitrust and competition; patent licensing and litigation.  He has lived in Taiwan since 2000.

Mr. Neumeyer is a 1990 graduate of the University of Oregon School of law and is licensed to practice in the State of California, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and Taiwan as a registered foreign attorney.

  • Negotiated settlement and drafted $20 million patent licensing agreement in dispute between U.S. company and Taiwanese company concerning computer monitor patents.
  • Negotiated settlement and drafted $20 million patent licensing agreement in dispute between Japanese company and Taiwanese company concerning computer monitor patents.
  • Negotiated settlement and drafted $18 million patent licensing agreement in dispute between German company and Taiwanese company concerning LED patents.
  • Managed patent lawsuits and administrative proceedings in the U.S. and other countries concerning computer monitors, keyboards, Wi-Fi devices, USB drives, camera modules, MP3 players, LEDs, semiconductors and other technologies.
  • Assisted Taiwan company to launch criminal action against three former employees for theft of trade secrets and use of the secrets at their competing employment.
  • Assisted U.S. apparel maker to launch nationwide anti-counterfeiting raids of more than 70 factories and retail outlets in Taiwan, resulting in criminal prosecutions and destruction of counterfeits.

  • In re Optical Disk Drive Antitrust Litigation (N.D. Cal.). Represented defendants in class-action lawsuits by direct purchasers and indirect purchasers alleging collusion in the optical disk drive industry.
  • Ingram Micro v. LG Electronics (N.D. Cal.). Represented defendants in action alleging collusion in the optical disk drive industry.
  • United States v. Nally (N.D. Cal.). Represented defendants in action alleging violation of Fair Housing Act.
  • Inpro II Licensing SARL v. Lite-On Technology Corp. (N.D. Cal.). Managed outside counsel for defendants in $5.4 million action alleging breach of patent licensing agreement concerning computer monitors.
  • Mondis Technology Ltd. v. LG Electronics, Inc. (E.D. Tex.). Managed outside counsel for third-party defendants in action alleging breach of patent licensing agreement concerning computer monitors.
  • Lite-On Technology Corp. v. NEC Display (Hong Kong High Court). Managed outside counsel for plaintiff and negotiated settlement in claim alleging breach of fiduciary duties in manufacturing joint venture.
  • Natsteel v. Peter Chia (Ontario Sup. Ct.). Managed outside counsel for plaintiff and negotiated settlement in action demanding over $2 million for alleged employee misappropriation.
  • G-Tech v. AST Computer Corp. (Los Angeles Sup. Ct.). Managed outside counsel for plaintiff in action for money due for computer products, resulting in judgment for $4.1M.
  • Lite-On Technology Corp. v. Evesham Corp. (High Court of Justice, England). Managed outside counsel in action for $5.7 million in accounts receivable; flew to London to negotiate with the defendant.
  • Metamorfyx v. Lite-On Technology Corp., (N. Dist. IL). Managed outside counsel in patent infringement lawsuit concerning computer keyboards; negotiated and drafted settlement agreement.
  • Typeright Keyboard Corp. v. Logitech, et al. (S.Dist. CA). Represented defendant in patent infringement lawsuit concerning computer keyboards; negotiated and drafted settlement agreement.
  • Bever Innovations B.V. v. Lite-On Technology Corp., (Breda Dist. Ct., Netherlands). Managed outside counsel and negotiated settlement of action alleging €2 million in damages caused by defective LEDs.

  • Lead in-house counsel in acquisition of Finnish public company, Perlos Corp., by Lite-On Technology Corp. for $277 million, including site visits, due diligence, anti-trust clearance, contracts, business transfer, board, management and employment issues, and resolution of disputes.
  • Lead in-house counsel in sale of computer monitor business unit from Lite-On Technology Corp. to Wistron Corp. for $300 million, including due diligence, antitrust clearance, contracts, business transfers and resolution of disputes.
  • Lead in-house counsel in acquisition of U.S. company's Singapore business unit by Lite-On Technology Corp., including site visits, due diligence, anti-trust clearance, contracts, business transfers and resolution of disputes.
  • Lead in-house counsel on the development, operation and sale of several solar power projects in Europe, Asia and the U.S., including two 10Mwp projects in Italy and a 1.2Mwp project in Germany.
  • Lead in-house counsel on corporate transactions and investments in the U.S., Europe and Asia with companies doing business in batteries, antennas, LEDs, LCD panels, loudspeakers, video conferencing, motion sensors, solar tracking devices and other technologies.

  • In re Eastman Kodak, Chp. 11 (S.D.N.Y.). Represented creditor, filing claims and meeting debtor's management to obtain assurances concerning ongoing business relations.
  • In re Sonic Blue, Inc., Chp. 11 (N.D. Cal.). Represented creditor, negotiating settlement of preferential payment clawback action for 9 percent of amount demanded by trustee.
  • In re Trigem, Inc., Chp. 11 (E.D. Tex.). Represented creditor, negotiating settlement of preferential payment clawback action for ___ percent of amount demanded by trustee.
