Jamie E. Brown is a government contracts lawyer who represents federal government contractors relative to contract administration, cybersecurity, information security, legislative affairs and international trade matters. Her practice includes assisting with federal government contract compliance reviews and litigation involving numerous aspects of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), including cybersecurity compliance reviews and U.S. export controls.
Ms. Brown assists companies and organizations with compliance U.S. export control compliance, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Such compliance activities include determining and obtaining proper licenses, conducting internal investigations, and advocating for clients in disclosures to and negotiations with relevant government agencies. In addition to her government contracts and international trade work, Ms. Brown has experience working with non-profit organizations on a variety of issues including compliance, internal investigations, and large scale event contracts.
Along with her law practice, Ms. Brown is active in public service. She serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Chicago Votes, a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to building a more inclusive democracy by engaging and developing a new generation of leaders by opening the doors of government and politics to young people. She was also appointed to and currently serves on the 25th Ward Community Zoning Advisory Board in the City of Chicago.
Ms. Brown is a graduate of the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where she was an editing staff member of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy and received the Pro Bono Services Highest Honor, and a graduate of George Mason University, where she earned a B.A. in International Affairs, with a concentration on Central Asia and Russia.
