Leslie Ritchie Robnett is a sixth-generation Texas attorney who solves complex commercial problems that frequently span from the agency to the appellate level. Leslie handles traditional state and federal litigation and appeals as well as administrative conflicts in highly regulated sectors including the insurance, cannabis, healthcare, oil, gas, energy and environmental industries. Leslie regularly helps clients with:

  • Business disputes alleging breach of contract/fiduciary duty, fraud, fraudulent inducement, DTPA, and RICO claims actions from inception through appeal;
  • Regulatory disputes such as qui tam actions and administrative claims before the State Office of Administrative Hearings, Texas Legislature and/or other Texas state agencies; and
  • Dispute resolution and compliance advisory involving federal and state investigations and demands from agencies such as the FTC, FCC, FERC, CMS, Texas Departments of Insurance, Transportation and Health and Human Services, Texas Railroad Commission and Public Utilities Commission, and the Office of the Texas Attorney General.

Prior to joining private practice, Leslie worked as a briefing attorney to a former Texas Supreme Court justice and as the Chief of Staff to a Texas State Representative who chaired the House Committee on Regulated Industries during the de-regulation of the Texas electricity and telecommunications markets. This legislative and appellate experience allows her to see the entire legal chess board from bill passage to final appeal in a way that few of her legal contemporaries can. She uses this unique skillset to help clients develop, execute and manage complex legal strategies in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Additionally, because of her ranching background as service as co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas and Energy Law, Leslie has litigated hand-in-hand with all types of players in the energy space from renewable, midstream and E&P companies to oilfield service providers and mineral/landowners. Having spent her young career in a Tier 1 Governmental Affairs practice in Austin, Texas, Leslie has also represented some of the world’s most recognizable telecom companies, insurers and reinsurers on various legislative and appellate efforts. She has also been a trusted advisor to clients in emerging Texas industries such as poker rooms, deferred transaction lenders, and businesses looking to enter the burgeoning cannabis market.

Leslie devotes her spare time to improving the Texas judiciary. In January of 2022, Texas Governor Abbott appointed Leslie to serve on the Specialty Courts Advisory Council. Leslie was also selected as a member of the Texas Pro Bono College for her tireless pro bono family law work on behalf of indigent Texas families.
