Christian Beaumont practices in the areas of Intellectual Property and data protection law, with a primary focus on data protection and privacy security, technology transactions, artificial intelligence, and general commercial contracts. Christian studied law school at both BPP University and the University of Law, where he earned an MSc in Law, Business and Practice (with Distinction).

Data Privacy and Security

Christian frequently counsel’s clients on the rapidly changing field of privacy and data protection under the UK and EU legal frameworks, including but not limited to, the UK and EU GDPR, as amended, and other UK and EU privacy laws such as the Data Protection Act and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. Christian advises clients across a range of industries on data protection and privacy best practices and assists clients with their governance regimes.

Intellectual Property, Data Protection within M&A Transactions

Christian also has vast experience assisting clients in connection with intellectual property, information technology and privacy issues within the context of local and cross-border M&A transactions, including conducting due diligence, drafting due diligence memorandum reports, and drafting and negotiating transactional documents.

Technology Transactions and Commercial Contracts

Christian regularly counsels clients in technology transactions and the associated commercial contracts, including structuring, drafting, negotiating, and providing legal advice.

  • Fortis v. Carl Zeiss Meditec, N24C-02-191 (DE Superior Court) – defending breach of contract action

  • Advised on eligibility and transferability of IRC section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit throughout the construction phase of a large battery production facility, including advising on corporate structure, tax elections and third-party contracts.
  • Regularly advise major technology company on complex privacy and data protection issues, including compliance with CCPA, GDPR, ePD and COPPA.
  • Provided guidance to U.S. company regarding transportation-related government procurement matters, including Buy America issues.

  • Represented Ensho Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing breakthrough therapies for patients with inflammatory diseases, in connection with a worldwide exclusive license agreement with EA Pharma Co., Ltd. for the rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize novel oral inflammatory bowel disease treatments.
  • Mediated a wage-and-hour PAGA and putative Class-Action lawsuit for less than six percent of the plaintiff's $14 Million demand.

  • Represented JobGet, Inc. in its stalking horse bid to purchase the core business assets of Careerbuilder + Monster.
  • Represented Moody’s Corporation (NYSE: MCO) in its acquisition via its Belgian subsidiary, Bureau Van Dijk Editions Electroniques SRL, of Vadis Technologies SA, a Belgian entity. Moody’s is a global risk assessment firm that empowers organizations to make better decisions by providing data, analytical solutions and insights to help decision-makers identify opportunities and manage risks. Vadis Technologies is a fintech company that developed software to detect certain types of potential fraud and other wrongdoing used by the European Commission; the technology is used generally by EU member states for electronic fund transfers.

  • Represented a luxury automotive manufacturer in the purchase, conditional on antitrust approvals, of a European component supplier of internal auto finishing components.

  • Represented Bettor Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in sports gambling and other gaming companies, in its Series A investment into Bettormetrics, a sports betting analytics specialist.

  • Represented The Partner Companies, LLC and all of their subsidiaries, in connection with the $70 million acquisition of a new operating company with subsidiaries in China, Barbados and the United Kingdom.

  • Defending J & J Snack Foods against claims for breach of a trademark license agreement and unfair trade practices and prosecuting claims against Slush Puppie Limited for breach of trademark license agreements and trademark infringement.
