George J. Schaller is a member of the firm’s Class Action Defense team and practices in the area of employment law. Mr. Schaller is a member of the Illinois bar and has appeared on behalf of clients in federal and state courts nationwide. He’s counseled clients on pre-litigation matters, defended clients from initial filing through pre-trial, and also taken matters through appeal. Mr. Schaller was recognized as one of the “2025 Premier Class Action Leaders of Tomorrow” honoring 12 exceptional, under-40, class action litigation rising stars.

He specializes in defending employers and businesses faced with class action litigation and collective action litigation. Mr. Schaller’s practice focuses on defending businesses in federal courts and in Illinois state court proceedings, with his representation ranging from class actions, collective actions, single-plaintiff lawsuits, arbitration proceedings, and administrative charges. Mr. Schaller represents clients in a broad scope of industries including logistics, healthcare, hospitality, financial services, AI software, engineering firms, and staffing entities. 

He has defended companies and employers in claims involving wage and hour violations, Illinois Biometric Privacy Act (BIPA) violations, privacy violations, consumer fraud violations, and deceptive business practice claims. He also defends companies in a variety of single-plaintiff and administrative charges concerning allegations of discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour violations. 

Mr. Schaller is a frequent contributor to the Duane Morris Class Action Defense Blog. His contributions aim to educate companies and employers on key rulings in class action and collective action litigation, Illinois state court rulings, and emerging litigation trends in Artificial Intelligence.  

Mr. Schaller currently serves as the Co-Editor of the Young Lawyer’s Section of the CBA Record. He previously served as the Vice Chair of the Young Lawyer’s Section of the CBA Record.

Prior to joining Duane Morris LLP, Mr. Schaller served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Melissa A. Durkin of the Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division.

He is a 2021 graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and he is also a graduate of the University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign.
