Glenn D. Richeson practices in the area of intellectual property law, including analysis acquisition, enforcement and defense. Mr. Richeson is experienced at prosecuting patent and trademark applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He counsels and assists clients in the acquisition and enforcement of U.S. and foreign patent rights in diverse technologies such as telecommunication, intrusion detection, network security, wireless network systems, semiconductor design and manufacturing, financial transactions, data encryption, thin film deposition, solar cells, software, business methods and medical devices, including surgical tools and implants. He is a member of the firm’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board practice group and has assisted in multiple post-grant proceedings before the Board.

As a registered patent attorney, Mr. Richeson has experience with complex intellectual property litigation in U.S. Federal District Courts and before the International Trade Commission, focusing in the mechanical and electrical arts. He has assisted in patent litigation involving varied technologies such as data communications, encryption, networking, telecommunications, video conferencing, wireless communications (including WiFi and 3GPP protocols and infrastructure), VoIP (including SIP protocols and infrastructure), mobility (including Mobile IP and other tunneling techniques), optical communications (including precoding, modulation techniques, amplifiers, add/drop multiplexing and switching, demodulation, equalization, and interference cancellation), e-commerce, internet of things (IoT), nuclear power and energy, propulsion plant systems, shipboard environmental systems, thin film deposition, semiconductor fabrication and packaging, medical devices, vehicle, LED package and fixture design, and design patents. In his support of patent litigation, Mr. Richeson draws on a diverse set of skills, including technical knowledge from his computer science background and practical experience as a former naval nuclear engineer.

Mr. Richeson further conducts and assists with due diligence reviews of patents and trademarks, patent and trademark searches, and the drafting and analysis of intellectual property licenses.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Richeson served as a patent agent for Duane Morris for nearly 4 years. As a Patent Agent, Mr. Richeson assisted in patent prosecution involving varied technologies to include computer architecture software and information security, computer networks and cryptography/security, electrical and optical systems and components, transportation, electronic commerce, and mechanical engineering, manufacturing and products design.

Prior to joining Duane Morris, Mr. Richeson served as a nuclear engineering officer in the U.S. Navy. Previous positions included Navigator/Operations Officer onboard a Los Angeles-class submarine and as Communications and Electrical Officer onboard an Ohio-class submarine. As a nuclear engineering officer, Mr. Richeson managed the operation and maintenance of the nuclear power plant, including electrical power generation and distribution, mechanical and nuclear propulsion plant systems. In addition, he served as a Company Officer and Instructor at the United States Naval Academy.

Mr. Richeson is a cum laude graduate of Georgia State University College of Law and earned a Certificate of Intellectual Property. He is also a graduate of the United States Naval Academy (B.S., Computer Science) and University of Maryland (Masters in Leadership and Education Development).

Represented Acuity Brands Lighting Inc. in an ITC investigation and related patent infringement litigations in the District of Delaware involving LED light fixtures and module design.
  • Data Scape Limited v. Citrix System, Inc., C.A. No. 2-18-cv-10658 (C.D. California). Represented Citrix System, Inc. in a patent infringement case involving communication systems and audio-playback recognition technology.
  • Sisvel International SA v. Verizon Communications Inc. et al., C.A. No. 1-18-cv-01742 (D. Delaware). Represented Verizon Communications Inc. in a patent infringement case involving DSL modem communications and protocols.
  • Packet Intelligence LLC v. Ericsson Inc., C.A. No. 2-18-cv-00381 (E.D. Texas). Represented Ericsson Inc. in a patent infringement case involving deep packet inspection and data packet routing.
