Randy Pyles practices in the area of intellectual property law with a focus on preparing and prosecuting patent applications for clients in industries such as medical devices, optics, glass fabrication and processing, telecommunications repair and logistics, firearms, industrial and consumer products, and autonomous vehicles.

Before coming an attorney, Randy had a twenty five-year career as an engineer, project manager, engineering manager, and senior staff member. In industry, Randy worked for a fortune 500 corporation, several mid-sized publicly and privately held companies, a rapidly growing start-up, and a very small engineering firm. His work included business development, research, marketing support, product design, manufacturing, program management, system integration, hands-on fabrication, and testing of electronics, electronic display systems, and display enhancement products primarily for military, aerospace, and other high-reliability applications. Randy routinely uses this experience to understand client’s technology and needs to counsel them toward achieving their business goals.

As an attorney and prior to practicing at Duane Morris, Randy engaged in highly strategic patent prosecution, counseling, and post-grant reexaminations for two AmLaw 100 law firms and a patent boutique, concentrating mostly in, among other technologies, electronic display technology and semiconductor inventions of large Japanese and Korean electronics companies. In those practices Randy also worked with color science, imaging systems, optics, robotics, power conversion electronics, connectors, industrial products, and firearms. Randy has held top secret security clearances as an engineer and an attorney.

Randy is a 2008 graduate of Widener University School of Law. He holds an M.S. in Imaging Science from Rochester Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology from Temple University.
