About the Program

In our virtual and information-driven world, data privacy and security have emerged as critical concerns for consumers, businesses and regulators. Our program explores the latest developments in this rapidly changing intersection of the law and technology to help companies navigate new and sweeping regulations in the United States. Eight states now have comprehensive consumer privacy laws: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Indiana, Iowa and Tennessee. Washington is the first state to pass a consumer health privacy law with a private right of action for consumers. Montana is awaiting the governor’s signature on its new consumer privacy law and there a large number of states with active privacy bills. We will provide an overview of these new and pending regulations and offer practical strategies to help businesses meet the increasingly complex compliance requirements.
