About the Program

Duane Morris is pleased to partner with the American Friends of the Hebrew University to host Professor Tam, who heads the Obesity and Metabolism Laboratory at Hebrew University's Institute for Drug Research and is director of the Multidisciplinary Center for Cannabinoid Research (MCCR). He has gained national and international recognition, and his group is considered one of the best in the world to study the involvement of the peripheral endocannabinoid system in metabolic diseases.

In his role as director of MCCR, he oversees a center that is aimed at generating synergy between researchers, projects and scientific centers around the globe in the hope of intensifying the use of cannabinoids for medical treatment and the ultimate enhancement of human health. Current MCCR research covers cancer, depression, immunity, infertility, inflammation, inflammatory bowel diseases, metabolism, nanotechnology (drug delivery) and neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson's.

Hebrew University scientists are in the vanguard of this exciting industry and the university is the only academic institution ranked in the top 10 patent holders for medical cannabis in the world.

He will join us to discuss his work and his multiple projects involving medical cannabis research.
