Six Lawyers, including Partner Michael W. Casey III, join Duane Morris' Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration Practice Group

Miami, January 4, 2011—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that Michael W. Casey III, Hector A. Chichoni, Richard D. Tuschman and Kevin E. Vance have joined the firm's Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration Practice Group as partners in its Miami office, strengthening the firm's national employment law practice and immigration practice. The partners, along with associates Mark J. Beutler and Teresa M. Maestrelli, join Duane Morris from Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.

Michael W. Casey III brings more than 39 years of experience representing management in a broad spectrum of labor and employment law matters. Rated among the leading employment defense attorneys in Florida by Chambers USA and noted as a "Star Individual" in Chambers, Casey represents clients in myriad industries in a wide array of traditional labor and employment law matters, including defending employment discrimination and/or retaliation claims, class-action employment cases, wage-and-hour claims, and handling union elections and unfair labor practice proceedings.

He is a member of the American Employment Law Council, former chair of the Eleventh Federal Circuit Credentials Committee for the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, the former chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Florida Bar, a board member and trustee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the former director of the Miami–Dade County Bar Association. He is a member, and former president, of the South Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America's board of directors, and former president of The Two Hundred Club, a foundation that supports families of law enforcement officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

Casey earned his J.D. in 1971 and his B.A. in 1967 from Louisiana State University.

Hector A. Chichoni joins the firm's Immigration Practice Group, focusing his practice in the area of U.S. and global immigration law. Chambers USA selected Chichoni as one of the "Leaders in Their Field" (Immigration). Chichoni is also listed in An International Who's Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers and is the National Immigration Counsel for the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), a large trade association representing airlines and affiliated industries offering services in the Latin America. Chichoni represents corporate and individual clients including healthcare organizations, Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies, multinational corporations and universities, doctors, professors, researchers and students. He handles international matters relating to export controls and global corporate compliance and business transactions. He has represented clients in a wide variety of cases before the U.S. Immigration Court.

Chichoni is also a frequent speaker and author on immigration and international issues, including for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). He is also a book reviewer for the book publishing section of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and his articles have appeared in numerous publications including HR Magazine, HR News and Immigration Legal Weekly.

Chichoni earned his J.D. in 1996 from Brigham Young University, where he was conference editor of the Journal of Law and Education. He earned his M.P.A. in 1996 and his B.A. in 1992 from Brigham Young University. He is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.

Richard D. Tuschman focuses his practice in labor and employment litigation in both federal and state courts, including cases involving trade-secret theft, unfair trade practices, business-related torts, age-discrimination claims, breach of restrictive covenants and tortious interference.

He is a frequent lecturer on employment law issues and is contributor to Thompson's Employer's Guide to the Fair Labor Standards Act. He has written articles on topics including how to understand the FLSA regulations as well as the reemployment rights of state National Guard members returning from active duty. He has presented on topics such as how to stay compliant with changing labor and employment laws, as well as employment law strategies for a telecommuting workforce. He is a member of the Academy of Florida Management Attorneys.

Tuschman earned his J.D. with honors in 1991 from George Washington University Law School. He earned his B.A. in 1988 from Franklin & Marshall College.

Kevin E. Vance focuses his practice on employment litigation, state and federal appellate work, and administrative litigation on the state and federal level. He represents employers in litigation before federal and state courts, the National Labor Relations Board, the U.S. Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, various state and local agencies, as well as in arbitrations, collective bargaining negotiations and union representation elections. He has represented clients on a wide range of employment-related matters, including noncompetition and trade-secret cases. In addition, he counsels clients on employment matters, drafts employee handbooks, employment agreements, releases, settlement agreements and opinion letters.

Vance earned his J.D. in 1998 from University of Cincinnati College of Law and earned his B.A. in 1995 from Vanderbilt University.

Mark J. Beutler focuses his practice on representing clients in labor disputes, discrimination and wage-and-hour litigation as well as in commercial litigation. Previously, he was a staff attorney at the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, where he represented employees in class actions and other civil actions involving civil rights, employment, labor, and personal-injury lawsuits against labor unions and employers, at trial and appellate level in federal and state courts and before the NLRB and state labor boards. He is a certified public accountant.

Beutler earned an LL.M. in 1995 from Columbia University School of Law and a J.D. in 1991, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he was editor of the Seton Hall University Law Review. He received his M.B.A. in 1986 from the Florida Institute of Technology and his B.S. in 1982 in Accounting/Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Teresa M. Maestrelli focuses her practice on labor and employment litigation. She represents clients in litigation before federal and state courts, and before the National Labor Relations Board. She advises clients on compliance with labor and employment laws, discipline and termination, wage and hour issues, and other employee-relations issues. She earned her J.D. in 2008, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was an associate editor of the University of Miami InterAmerican Law Review. She earned her B.B.A. with distinction in 2002 from the University of Wisconsin.
