NEW YORK, March 21, 2016—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that Brian D. Siff has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner in its New York office. Siff adds to the firm’s intellectual property capabilities in New York and nationally. He joins Duane Morris from Schiff Hardin LLP. 

Siff was deputy leader of the Intellectual Property Group at Schiff Hardin. He focuses his practice on representing and defending companies in patent litigation and America Invents Act (AIA) proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trial Appeal Board; counseling clients with respect to patent enforcement, procurement and licensing strategies; and advising and representing companies and individuals concerning trademark and copyright litigation, enforcement, licensing and procurement. Siff has extensive experience representing Internet/ecommerce, communications and automotive companies, as well as medical device manufacturers and clients in the financial and consumer goods industries. He represents companies in both head-to-head competitor litigation and joint defense group patent actions against non-practicing entities and “patent trolls.” In addition, Siff develops patent risk management strategies for large U.S. and European companies that wish to reduce the risk of patent infringement. He is conversant with patent review processes under the AIA, including inter partes review, covered business method review and post-grant review proceedings. Siff also represents companies on all aspects of trademark, trade dress and copyright law. 

Siff is a 1990 graduate of Washington University School of Law and a 1987 graduate of Cornell University.
