Patty HollenbeckSAN DIEGO, July 10, 2014—Duane Morris partner Patricia P. Hollenbeck has been elected as the 43rd president of Lawyers Club of San Diego. Her one-year term began July 1.

Lawyers Club of San Diego was founded in 1972 with a mission "to advance the status of women in the law and in society." The organization now has nearly 1,300 members, making it the second-largest bar association in San Diego County. Its membership is composed of female and male attorneys, judges, elected officials, business owners, law students and others in the San Diego community who share Lawyers Club's interests and goals.

A member of the organization's board of directors since 2011, Hollenbeck recently completed her term as vice president of the Finance & Fundraising Section. She previously served as the chair of several Lawyers Club committees, including Membership and Judicial Endorsements. As president, in addition to leading the 15-member board, Hollenbeck will make appointments for more than 35 committee, liaison and ad hoc positions; oversee the organization's activities and events; and work with representatives from similar organizations regionally and nationally to advance Lawyers Club's overall mission. In doing so, she will work alongside Lawyers Club's executive director, Elaine Lawrence.

At the Lawyers Club Annual Dinner in May, which featured retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and centered on the theme, "Raising the Bar," Hollenbeck discussed her experience, commitment to Lawyers Club and goals for the upcoming year.

"We have to make a collective effort to increase our profile, and to encourage collaboration and involvement," Hollenbeck said. "Find your passion. Recognize the women – and men – who step up to support you, to mentor you and to urge you over that bar."

Hollenbeck is an experienced trial lawyer who represents clients in a broad range of matters before state and federal courts, as well as arbitration forums. She focuses her practice primarily on complex business litigation in a number of sectors, including franchise, education, unfair competition and consumer legal remedies, and technology. She has been involved in numerous trials in state and federal courts before both juries and judges. Hollenbeck has handled more than 100 arbitrations, and has arbitrated to award in excess of 50 cases before a number of arbitral forums. She also has extensive experience in defending class actions, and with pursuing injunctive relief for her clients.

For the past several years, Hollenbeck has served on the steering committee of the Duane Morris Women's Initiative, and in 2013, she received the firm's Cheryl Blackwell Bryson Leadership Award. The award recognizes significant contributions to women in the profession, including issues regarding the professional development of women lawyers and their career advancement.

Hollenbeck has been AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 1999. Based on this rating, in 2013 and 2014, Hollenbeck was selected to the "Top Lawyers in San Diego" list in the trial practice area by San Diego Magazine. Recently, she was named among the San Diego Business Journal's "Best of the Bar." Hollenbeck also was named this year to the Southern California Super Lawyers list in the area of business litigation and was selected as one of its "Top 25 Women in San Diego." She was recognized in San Diego Super Lawyers from 2011 to 2013 in the same practice area. In addition, in 2011, 2012 and 2014, Hollenbeck was named a "San Diego County Top Attorney" in the area of corporate litigation by the San Diego Daily Transcript.

A 1984 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law, Hollenbeck earned her A.B. in 1981 from Stanford University, where she double-majored, was elected to Cap and Gown and played on the women's varsity golf team.
