NEW YORK, JUNE 17 - Duane Morris LLP, one of the nation's 100 largest law firms, has added two new partners, Loren Schechter and James A. Tricarico, Jr., formerly of Kirkpatrick and Lockhart LLP. Loren and Jim will co-chair the firm's national broker-dealer practice.

Robert Hasday, the managing partner of the New York office, echoing the comments of Sheldon Bonovitz, noted that with the addition of Jim, Loren and two associates who are joining their group, there are now 75 lawyers in the New York office.
"Loren and Jim add extensive depth to the Trial Practice Group," said John J. Soroko, chair of this practice group. "Their experience in the securities industry adds considerable strength to our already strong, and growing, capabilities in this area."
Loren Schechter concentrates his practice on securities regulatory counseling and litigation matters. He has represented broker-dealers and individuals in investigations and litigation before the securities and commodity futures regulators, in state and federal courts and before numerous arbitration panels. He also has extensive experience in related employment law matters.
Loren's professional background extends over more than 35 years, initially from the New York Stock Exchange, to deputy general counsel and general counsel of two broker-dealer and investment banking firms, including 10 years as general counsel of Prudential Securities Group, Inc. Loren served as the president of the Compliance & Legal Division of the Securities Industry Association. He is a 1967 graduate of the New York University School of Law, as well as a 1962 graduate of City College of New York.
James A. Tricarico, Jr. practices in the areas of financial services litigation, regulatory counseling and enforcement. He was, most recently, general counsel and executive vice president of Prudential Securities, Inc., where he was also a member of that firm's Operating Council. Jim's duties at Prudential included supervision of Law Department work and personnel, including oversight of litigation and regulatory matters, as well as providing legal advice to the Private Client Group and Capital Markets Group concerning sales practice matters, trading issues, marketing, product development, commercial agreements and investment banking.
Jim is a member of the American Bar Association, including the Corporate and Litigation Divisions. He is also a member of the Futures Industry Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Compliance & Legal Division of the Securities Industry Association, of which he is a former president. For the last four years, he has been the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Investment Compliance.
Jim graduated cum laude in 1977 from New York Law School. He is a 1974 graduate of Fordham University.
