SAN FRANCISCO, July 10, 2023―Duane Morris LLP partner Terrance J. Evans has been elected vice chair of the California Lawyers Association (CLA) Board. The CLA is a nonprofit, voluntary bar association serving thousands of licensed attorneys throughout California. Evans is currently the Litigation Section representative on the board. He is the co-founder and co-chair of the CLA Racial Justice Committee as well as the immediate past chair of the Litigation Section of the organization.
Evans is the first elected African American to serve as an officer of the CLA’s Board of Representatives. He is also the first African American male appointed to the Board of Representatives; he was first appointed by the Litigation Section of the CLA in 2020.
Evans is co-leader of Duane Morris’ Banking and Financial Services practice. His practice is focused on representing clients in federal and state trial and appellate courts across the United States including the United States Supreme Court. Evans also regularly counsels clients regarding racial justice and diversity and inclusion issues. He has led dozens of diversity trainings for judges, lawyers, law students and members of the community around the United States.
Evans is the immediate past president of the Charles Houston Bar Association, the oldest Black Bar Association in California. He is co-chair of the American Bar Association ICLC Diversity & Inclusion Committee, a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco Judicial & Finance Committees; and director of Region IX of the National Bar Association. At Duane Morris, Evans serves as co-chair of the firm’s San Francisco Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
