Eons ago in Internet time, the Web site Feminist.com was established. While many sites have come and gone since then, Feminist.com is still going strong. The site covers many aspects of life that affect women, at times including legal developments and linking to sites that provide national legislative updates.

Feminist.com considers itself "the definitive hub for resources and information dedicated to women's equality, justice, wellness and safety." Indeed, the site reports that it welcomes in excess of 75,000 visitors each month and that thousands of sites and search engines link to the site. Feminist.com likens itself to a "feminist Google," that facilitates interactions and connections between women worldwide.

The site originally was launched by a dedicated group of young women with expertise in law, television, journalism, marketing, communications, activism and even music. The initial goal was to mobilize communications at a grassroots level with respect to political, educational and health issues impacting women.

According to Marianne Schnall, Founder and President of the site, "when we launched Feminist.com the Internet was in its infancy and young women had few comprehensive resources to educate themselves about feminist issues and ideas." She states that she "envisioned Feminist.com as a user-friendly space on the Internet where women could not only find information they were seeking but they could also connect to other women and women's groups across the country and around the world."

In addition to its other functions, for the past decade, Feminist.com has provided a presence for a number of leading women's organizations on a pro bono basis. The site, even though now mature, still maintains Web availability for emerging organizations as they get off of the ground, helping them create vital contact with their constituencies.

Feminist.com has been recognized with many awards. It also has received press coverage in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Ms. Magazine, and other national publications.

It appears that Feminist.com is here to stay, and may have just celebrated its first of many decades of active function.
