Ananth is a Senior Associate in the Corporate Practice Group of Selvam LLC.

Ananth’s main area of practice is in capital markets, banking and finance and private equity. He has advised domestic and international clients in capital markets and securities related transactions including initial public offerings, qualified institutions placements, rights issues and private placement of equity shares and debentures. Ananth has a wide range of industry experience, including working on deals involving banks, infrastructure investment trusts and companies involved in sectors including manufacturing, life sciences, transportation & logistics, mines and minerals, telecommunications and real estate. He has also acted on the first-ever private placement of units by an Indian public sector infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) and the first by an Indian regulatory authority, and on the first initial public offering of units by an Indian public sector InvIT and the largest one (by value) by an Indian InvIT.

Ananth received his Master of Laws in 2023 from Columbia Law School, New York and his bachelor’s degree in law in 2017 from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), India. He was admitted to the Bar Council of India in 2017 and is a registered foreign lawyer in Singapore.

He is fluent in English, Tamil and Hindi.

Representative Matters

  • Acted as the international legal counsel to ICICI Securities, Axis Capital and SBI Capital Markets in their role as the book running lead managers on the sale of Rs. 5,700 million (US$69 million) of shares in Jana Small Finance Bank Limited in an IPO in India and concurrent private placements outside India.

  • Advised Union Bank of India on its recent sale of INR 30,0000 million (US$360 million) of its equity shares in a qualified institutions placement, including a private placement in the United States.
