PHILADELPHIA, July 20, 2022―Duane Morris’ Intellectual Property Practice Group and attorneys have been recognized by IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals 2022.

In Georgia, L. Norwood (Woody) Jameson, chair of the firm’s IP practice, and partner Matthew C. Gaudet are ranked. IAM Patent 1000 writes:

Right up there among the top patent filers in the United States, Duane Morris also puts in regular winning appearances in federal district courts and other patent litigation forums, making it a strong all-round partner for innovative companies. Two of its best advocates are stationed in Atlanta: “Woody Jameson is a top-notch trial lawyer with excellent courtroom presence. He is very practical and down to earth in his approach, and he has a great ability to efficiently handle cases in the run up to trial, too.” He recently represented Cisco Systems against Finjan, a patent licensing entity in which Cisco had previously invested, which brought suit alleging wilful infringement of various patents. Also working on this was Matthew Gaudet, who has had other cases on the go against Finjan, including one in which he represented Rapid7, a company not previously exposed to patent infringement litigation and which therefore needed an experienced lawyer in the trenches with it. Gaudet provides strong leadership to the patent litigation side as its chair.

In Pennsylvania, the firm and partner Samuel W. Apicelli are recognized in the prosecution category. IAM Patent 1000 writes:

Duane Morris puts on a clinic when it comes to patent filing and prosecution. Every one of its patent lawyers and agents has a technical background – many of them with industry experience, too – putting the firm on an exceptionally strong footing with respect to endeavours at the USPTO. The ensemble has deepened its IP bench significantly in the past year, giving prosecution chair Samuel Apicelli more resources to work with. Apicelli is brilliant at building relationships, which speaks to his interpersonal skills, his quality as a patent lawyer and his focus on excellent customer care. For example, he has represented Hovertech International for more than 24 years and built up its portfolio significantly in support of its business objectives.

Additionally, Stuart Bartow and Philip W. Woo are ranked in California. IAM Patent 1000 writes:

Duane Morris trial lawyer Stuart Bartow has spent a lot of time in court and knows how to bring fact finders on board with his case. He is also distinguished by his international experience and credentials – he is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales. He has been representing Unirac in multiple disputes against chief competitor Esdec in support of Philip Woo, one of the most technologically adept litigators in California.
