NEW YORK, July 16, 2025―Duane Morris partner M. Alejandra Vargas has been honored as a 2025 Rising Star by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA). MCCA’s Rising Stars recognizes exceptional attorneys who demonstrate professional excellence, leadership and impact on the legal field and their communities. For more than 25 years, MCCA has been the premier partner of law firms and legal departments committed to advancing a more equal legal profession, grounded in opportunity and access for all. Vargas will be recognized at the 2025 Pathways Conference Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C., on September 9, 2025.

Vargas concentrates her practice in the area of immigration law. She represents companies in a wide variety of industries including financial, fintech, consumer goods, tech and artificial intelligence. Vargas advises businesses on both temporary and permanent visa sponsorship processes, helping clients establish, review and customize their immigration policies to meet business needs and ensure compliance. She also assists individuals and families with nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters, as well as naturalization. Vargas helps skilled professionals, artists, entrepreneurs and business owners secure temporary and permanent visa sponsorship, obtain lawful permanent residence and navigate the U.S. naturalization process for themselves and their families. She is a volunteer attorney in Duane Morris’ Pro Bono Program and has been actively engaged in leadership roles within the firm. She is a member of the Hispanic/Latino Employee Resource Group and the Marketing Committee of the New York office and previously served as co-chair of the firm’s Associates Committee. She is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Foundation (HNBF) board of directors. 

She was recognized as a “Top Lawyer Under 40” by the Hispanic National Bar Association and received the “Lexology Client Choice” Award for Corporate Immigration in New York in both 2024 and 2025. She was also honored with the New York Law Journal Rising Star Award in 2023.

Vargas holds an LL.M. from Brooklyn Law School and a Master II in Private Law (LL.M.) from Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). She is also a graduate (J.D.) of Pontifical Bolivarian University in Colombia. She is fluent in Spanish and French.
