Anthony J. Guida Jr. focuses his practice on the pre-K-12, postsecondary, education technology and corporate training education sectors, handling issues relating to federal and state education law, licensing and accreditation, mergers, acquisitions and other substantive changes; institutional governance; government response and crisis management, federal and state education policy; and government affairs. An experienced senior executive in the field of higher education, Guida bring a unique business-side perspective to his engagement with clients. He serves as a team lead for the Duane Morris Education Industry Group and is a member of the firm's governing Partners Board.
Owen Newman is a litigation attorney focusing on complex, multijurisdictional disputes and international arbitration. He advises clients in high-value disputes with particular focus on large-scale engineering and construction projects in the power generation and oil and gas sectors. Newman has represented clients in disputes around the world, including Africa, Asia, North America and the Middle East, and acted as counsel under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, UNCITRAL, AAA, SCC as well as ad hoc arbitrations in India and Saudi Arabia.
Richard A. Silfen is co-chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions Division of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group. He regularly advises companies and their boards, as well as fund sponsors and their portfolio companies, in capital markets and other capital-raising transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and control transactions. Silfen also assists emerging and private equity-backed companies to develop plans for the growth and development of their businesses and technologies, including collaborative and strategic partnerships and joint venture arrangements. His practice focuses include the healthcare/life sciences, fintech, cannabis and real estate sectors. As a repeat All-Star honoree, Silfen also earned the designation of “MVP All-Star.”
Matthew A. Taylor is chairman and CEO of Duane Morris and also serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. He practices in the area of commercial litigation, handling matters in state and federal courts across the United States. Taylor also represents corporate boards and individual corporate officers and directors in internal and government investigations and related proceedings. He is an active trial lawyer dealing with matters in banking and securities law, RICO, corporate governance, commercial real estate, computer software and hardware, product liability (with a concentration in medical devices), and corporate directors and officers liability and indemnification. Taylor handles a wide range of employment matters involving noncompete, trade secrets and business-related torts. He also represents medical device manufacturers nationally in product liability matters and in connection with commercial disputes between manufacturers and their distributors.
