As middle market law firms increasingly seek to lure private equity clients, Duane Morris has appointed a new chair of its corporate practice group.
Brian Kerwin, who co-founded the firm?s Chicago office in 1999 and became vice-chair of the corporate division in 2008, takes the reins of the practice. Besides writing and speaking widely on corporate legal topics, Kerwin has handled numerous financings and M&A deals with a private equity component, such as the sale of American Gaming Systems to Apollo Global Management for more than $200 million, the sale of Vapor Power International to Stone Pointe Partners for an undisclosed amount, and the sale of a Michigan-based firm to The Riverside Company, also for an undisclosed amount.
