Duane Morris San Francisco Office Adds Intellectual Property Partner Mark A. Steiner
San Francisco, January 4, 2011—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that Mark A. Steiner has joined the firm's growing Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner in its San Francisco office. Steiner further bolsters Duane Morris' national and highly-ranked IP practice. Publications including Intellectual Property Today, IP Law & Business, IP Law Bulletin and IP Law360 have all ranked Duane Morris among the leading law firms handling patents, trademarks and related IP litigation. Steiner joins Duane Morris from Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP, where he was the head of the firm's trademark and copyright practice group for eight years.
Steiner focus his practice on trademark and copyright law. He represents clients in counseling, enforcement – including litigation and administrative proceedings – procurement and technology-licensing matters concerning trademarks, Internet domain issues, copyrights, trade secrets and unfair competition. Steiner serves a variety of clients in a wide array of industries, including e-commerce, computer hardware and software, networking, retail, architectural and engineering design services, personal-care products, sporting goods, clothing, toys and games, food and beverage, hotels, and restaurants. He regularly assists clients in the management and enforcement of domestic and international trademark portfolios.
He was formerly the deputy city attorney for the City and County of San Francisco. Steiner is a member of the International Trademark Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. Steiner is a member of the International Trademark Association Panel of Neutrals and has been trained as a mediator. He has taught intellectual property law as an adjunct professor at the University of Paris X School of Law and was an instructor at Hastings College of the Law.
Steiner earned his J.D. in 1979 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was an editor of the Hastings Communications and Entertainment Law Journal. He earned his B.A. in Communications with high honors from the University of California at Davis in 1976.
