Duane Morris Partner Eduardo Ramos-Gómez to Speak at "Pacific Rim Markets and Opportunities" Symposium
PHILADELPHIA, April 6, 2011—Duane Morris LLP partner Eduardo Ramos-Gómez, based in Singapore, is speaking at "Pacific Rim Markets and Opportunities"—a symposium hosted by the Holy Family University School of Business Administration in Philadelphia. The event takes place on Friday, April 8, 2011, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the University's Education Technology Center auditorium. It will focus on the challenges and rewards of enterprise in Asian business markets.
Duane Morris is the sole Philadelphia-based firm with a strong Singapore presence. It opened its Singapore and Vietnam offices in 2007. In January 2011, the firm formally commenced its new alliance, Duane Morris & Selvam LLP, with existing Singapore-based firm Selvam LLC to do business jointly in Singapore and surrounding countries. The alliance lawyers are speaking around the United States on similar topics.
Ramos-Gómez will present on the topic, "Business Practices and Culture: Doing Business in Southeast Asia," from 9:20 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. The event will also feature a presentation by Jim McCloskey, an international business professor at Holy Family University. In addition, the program will include a best-practices panel discussion of corporate representatives operating in Southeast Asia, including Crown Corporation, and representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of Commerce. Ramos-Gómez is the managing partner of Duane Morris' Asian offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore. He has practiced international and corporate law for more than 30 years, advising multinational and foreign companies in Asia, North America, Europe and Latin America on cross-border direct foreign investment, project development and project finance. His practice encompasses a broad range of corporate transactions in the United States, Latin America and Asia. Ramos-Gómez formerly served as Mexico's Ambassador to Singapore, Negara Brunei Darussalam and the Union of Myanmar. He also heads the Latin America desk in the Singapore office.
