Duane Morris Partner J. Scott Kramer Named Pa. Bar Association Gaming Chair
PHILADELPHIA, April 27, 2012—Duane Morris partner J. Scott Kramer has been named chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's (PBA) Gaming Law Committee for the upcoming bar year. His term will commence on May 11, 2012. The PBA Gaming Law Committee is responsible for reviewing, studying and making recommendations concerning legislative proposals in the area of gaming law; promoting the understanding of laws, regulations and court decisions in the gaming area; and developing materials and educational programs of interest to the gaming practitioner to promote improvements and professionalism in the field of gaming law.
As a partner in Duane Morris' Philadelphia office, Kramer is the co-chair of the firm's Gaming Industry Group and also serves on the firm's Contingent Fee and Professional Standards Committees. He tries complex commercial cases before juries and has also provided advice on Internet gaming issues and assisted companies in establishing operations in jurisdictions outside the United States that regulate Internet gaming. Kramer appears before gaming regulatory bodies and aids in compliance activities for horse racing and casino clients. He is engaged in licensing and provides advice to investment banks and lenders on gaming regulatory issues. Kramer led the successful legal effort for the Las Vegas Sands' competition for an exclusive license to operate a Pennsylvania gaming facility, Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.
Kramer is a graduate of Temple University's Beasley School of Law and the College of William and Mary.
