Duane Morris Lawyer Receives Business Law Award
Vincent F. Garrity, a partner in Duane Morris LLP, has been selected by the Business Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association to receive the 2003 Dennis H. Replansky Memorial Award. Mr. Garrity has practiced in the firm's Philadelphia office since 1963.
The award was presented at a reception held at the Pyramid Club on January 29. As the recipient of the award, Garrity will designate an organization to receive the Section's annual charitable contribution to a public interest organization.
The award is given annually to a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association who demonstrates superior legal talent in the area of business law; unique contribution to and significant achievements within the business law community in the Philadelphia area; a reputation for mentoring young attorneys; significant participation in and contributions to civic and charitable causes in the community; and, uniform recognition in the legal community of his honesty, integrity and professionalism.
Garrity practices in the areas of business law, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. As a member of the Committee on Corporate Laws of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, he participated in the preparation of the Revised Model Business Corporation Act. He is also a recent past chair of the Committee on Negotiated Acquisitions of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and is past chair of the Committee's Acquisition Review Subcommittee. Mr. Garrity is a former chair of the Corporation, Banking and Business Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and is the current vice chair of the Title 15 Task Force, which prepared and regularly updates the 1988 Pennsylvania Business Corporation Law.
A member of The American Law Institute and a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Mr. Garrity is a 1962 graduate of Harvard Law School and a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.
