Auten Honored by Nightingale's Healthcare News
PHILADELPHIA, APRIL 19 - Donald R. Auten, co-chair of the 30-lawyer Health Law Practice Group of Duane Morris LLP, was honored recently as one of the top healthcare transaction lawyers in the country.
Nightingale's Healthcare News, naming Don as one of only 15 lawyers nationally, cited him as a pioneer of "various types of physician-hospital joint venture transactions including those in cardiology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and radiation oncology."
Nightingale's Healthcare News, a bi-monthly newsletter based in Frederick, MD, targets professionals serving the healthcare industry, healthcare executives, and others.
The honor was awarded at a banquet during the March 31-April 1 Healthcare Transactions Conference in Chicago sponsored by the Beard Group, titled "Successful Strategies for Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures & Restructurings."
Don has seen the Duane Morris Health Law Practice Group triple to its current size during his tenure as co-chair, making it one of the nation's largest groups devoted to the legal needs of the healthcare industry. In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Don focuses his practice on healthcare mergers and acquisitions, hospital-physician relationships and joint ventures, academic medical centers, community hospitals, faculty practice plans, physician group practices, Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse and "Stark" laws.
Don is a past chair of the Committee on Affiliated and Related Corporations of the American Bar Association's Taxation Section, a member of the Tax Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and past chair and a council director of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Tax Section.
