Pennsylvania Supreme Court Appoints Duane Morris Partner as Disciplinary Hearing Committee Member

PHILADELPHIA, JULY 1 - Duane Morris partner Andrew S. Miller has been appointed as a Hearing Committee Member serving the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. His appointment becomes effective July 1, 2004. Andrew is a partner in the Philadelphia office of Duane Morris, one of the nation's 100 largest law firms.

"We are pleased for Andrew," said Sheldon Bonovitz, Chairman of Duane Morris. "His substantial knowledge of the law and proper conduct for the courtroom will be of significant benefit to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania."

"We are delighted to welcome Mr. Miller," said Louis N. Teti, Board Chair. "His excellent knowledge and reputation will be of great value and service to the Disciplinary Board."

Andrew's three-year appointment on the Hearing Committee will involve hearing cases and reviewing files concerning attorneys accused of misconduct. Andrew will be performing duties such as providing the initial review of cases, assisting with investigative hearings, serving as a "trial court" and determining guilt or innocence of misconduct charges. The committee conducts formal hearings and recommends disciplinary measures against violators.

Andrew S. Miller focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on corporate and financial disputes. Andrew also represents clients in products liability and mass tort litigation, fraud litigation and constitutional and regulatory litigation. He is the co-founder of the Young Professional Network in International Affairs with the Foreign Policy Research Institute of Philadelphia. He serves on the Board of Directors of ARC of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, a non-profit organization that provides services to, and advocates on behalf of, persons with physical and mental disabilities. He served for five years on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Indigent Program. Andrew also served as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer prior to law school.

The Disciplinary Board was created in 1972. The Board assists the state Supreme Court in performing its constitutional duty to regulate attorney conduct and members serve on a volunteer basis.
