Duane Morris Partner Jane Leslie Dalton Selected for Woman of Distinction Award
Duane Morris LLP is pleased to congratulate Jane Dalton on her selection as one of 25 "Women of Distinction." The award, given by the Philadelphia Business Journal and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), is presented in recognition of commitment to professional excellence and community involvement. The honorees will be recognized at the Eighth Annual Awards Banquet at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel on Wednesday, November 30. The Philadelphia Business Journal will also profile the winners in a special section in the December 5 issue.
An accomplished employment litigator, Jane serves a wide range of corporate clients in issues relating to employment discrimination and personnel management, unfair competition and constitutional litigation, and other administrative litigation. She became an associate at Duane Morris in 1971, and in 1978 was named the firm's first woman partner. Since 2002, she has served on the Duane Morris Pro Bono Steering Committee, the goal of which is to increase the size and scope of the firm's pro bono services. She currently serves as Vice-Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and in 2007 will become the Chancellor of the 13,000-member organization. Recently, Jane was invited to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court Committee of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) to evaluate Supreme Court nominee Judge Samuel Alito.
Jane has shown continued commitment to the Philadelphia community through her work with several organizations. She has served as a member of the Plaintiff's Employment Panel of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where she has represented impoverished plaintiffs in employment matters. She is Vice President of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, which provides financial and other support to providers of legal services for the poor in Philadelphia. For eight years, she chaired the Philadelphia Police Advisory Commission, the civilian agency that oversees the police department.
Jane earned her J.D. in 1971 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and received her B.A. cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Smith College.
