About the Program

The number of educational institutions receiving government inquiries—which could lead to civil or criminal penalties—has continued to increase throughout 2025. It is important for educational institutions to acknowledge the new landscape in order to prepare for a potential investigation. Duane Morris attorneys will provide a broad overview of real-life scenarios in order to discuss:

  • The current environment surrounding diversity and inclusion, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), admissions and student conduct;
  • The potentially overlapping types of contact with government agencies including Department of Education investigations, ICE interactions and state attorneys general, accrediting agencies, congressional and other types of requests;
  • Third-party issues that could include confidentiality obligations and potential obligations to disclose or not disclose information; and
  • Maintaining privilege in responding to government inquiries and mitigating risk of exposure.
