NEW YORK, September 22, 2025―Seth M. Rokosky has joined Duane Morris LLP as a partner in the firm’s Trial Practice Group in its New York office. Prior to joining Duane Morris, Rokosky was an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he focused his practice in the Appellate and Constitutional Law Group. He previously served as an assistant solicitor general in the New York Attorney General’s Office Appeals and Opinions Bureau.
“Duane Morris is nationally well-known for its power in appellate matters, and we are pleased to add new talent like Seth to our bench strength in New York,” said Duane Morris Chairman and CEO Matthew A. Taylor. “We are continuing to recruit and expand our team in New York City with experienced, credentialed attorneys like Seth, who will be an asset to existing firm clients, enhance our capabilities and offer a strong vision for building their own practice.”
“Appellate work includes broad applications of the law, understanding the architecture of a defense viewpoint and an increasing requirement to oversee trials from the outset with an appellate perspective already in mind. Seth’s background, which includes dozens of matters in New York state, as well as his experience before the U.S. Supreme Court and Courts of Appeals, makes him a very strong and strategic addition to our team in New York City,” said Robert M. Palumbos, chair of the firm’s Appellate Division.
Rokosky litigates a broad array of commercial litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts. He has extensive appellate experience, having conducted 30 oral arguments and filed more than 90 appellate briefs in both state and federal court, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals, the New York Court of Appeals and other New York appellate courts. His experience includes affirmative and defensive appeals, emergency motions, stay applications and amicus briefs, and it covers a wide range of subject matters such as commercial litigation, insurance, securities, antitrust, bankruptcy, RICO, intellectual property, CPLR Article 78, civil and criminal procedure, administrative procedure, class actions and constitutional law. In the trial court, Rokosky maintains a robust litigation practice, with a particular focus on complex briefing and providing strategic advice to trial counsel. He has filed countless motions and been consulted on all aspects of a case from complaint to final judgment.
Rokosky is currently serving as co-chair of the Appellate Practice Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, which received the section’s 2025 Practice “Committee of the Year” award. The committee works to improve appellate representation in commercial litigation by writing and speaking about matters of interest to appellate lawyers and judges, developing programs specific to appellate litigation and working with the bar association to improve appellate practice. Rokosky is also co-chair of the Appellate Rules Subcommittee for the American Bar Association.
Rokosky is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D., cum laude, 2011) and Ohio State University (B.A., summa cum laude, 2008). After graduating from Penn Law, he clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He has received three outstanding service awards from the Legal Aid Society for work on behalf of a class of disabled New Yorkers challenging a disaster food stamp program in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the New York State Bar Association have also recognized Rokosky’s pro bono work.
“Duane Morris’ collaborative culture and innovative vision provide a strong platform for serving clients,” Rokosky said. “Having seen the good work of Duane Morris attorneys over the course of my career, I am very pleased to be part of such a strong team and am excited to accelerate my practice and support the firm’s client base.”
