Santander Offers $1.8 Billion to End Madoff Claims

On January 28, Banco Santander SA, Spain's largest bank, announced that it would offer $1.82 billion to clients who lost money as part of Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme. Marvin Pickholz, partner in the Trial Practice Group in Duane Morris' New York office, comments in this article on the possible reaction of many such investors worldwide to the news, and the legal ramifications to Banco Santander clients who accept the offer.
