Duane Morris' Paul Killion Certified in Appellate Law by State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization
SAN FRANCISCO, June 11, 2010—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that Paul Killion, a partner in the firm's Trial Practice Group in its San Francisco office, has been certified as an appellate law specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
The certification requires passing a written examination in appellate law, demonstrating strong experience in appellate courts, fulfilling ongoing education requirements and receiving favorable evaluations from attorneys and judges. Killion has handled a variety of litigation and appeals, including trial and appellate work in asbestos, pollution and toxic-tort insurance coverage litigation. He has a broad range of appellate experience, with a particular focus on appeals from complex jury trials. Killion has appeared before all districts of the California Courts of Appeal and the California Supreme Court, as well as before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits and the Supreme Courts of Washington and Oregon. He also regularly represents clients as amici counsel in the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal. A co-author of the Defense Research Institute's national publication, A Defense Lawyer's Guide to Appellate Practice (2004), he has spoken and written on a number of appellate and insurance issues.
Killion is a 1986 graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
