PHILADELPHIA, March 2, 2026—Duane Morris LLP partner Sharon L. Caffrey was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, joining an elite group recognized for exceptional trial advocacy and dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession.
The induction ceremony took place at the college’s 2026 spring meeting in La Quinta, California. Caffrey joins seven other Duane Morris attorneys with the distinguished designation, including firm Chairman and CEO Matthew A. Taylor, partners David J. Wolfsohn, Eric R. Breslin and Leigh M. Skipper and of counsel Beatrice O'Donnell, Michael L. Lipman and Michael M. Mustokoff.
Founded in 1950, the American College of Trial Lawyers comprises the best of the trial bar from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico and is widely considered to be the premier professional trial organization in North America. The college is an invitation-only fellowship. It thoroughly investigates each nominee for admission and selects only those who have demonstrated the very highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism and collegiality. The college maintains and seeks to improve the standards of trial practice, professionalism, ethics and the administration of justice through education and public statements on important legal issues relating to its mission. It strongly supports the independence of the judiciary, trial by jury, respect for the rule of law, access to justice, and fair and just representation of all parties to legal proceedings.
Caffrey is a products liability trial lawyer who is sought after to try large exposure cases in the most difficult jurisdictions, often referred to as “judicial hellholes.” She has a distinguished record of success at trial; of the past 10 cases she has tried, she obtained eight defense verdicts and two low-value verdicts. Caffrey has tried dozens of mass tort, toxic tort, health effects and medical negligence cases, the vast majority to defense verdicts. She is also able to leverage her deep experience to serve as national coordinating counsel for clients looking to guide the management of voluminous litigation consistent with their legal and business priorities. Caffrey’s background includes defending pharmaceutical, medical device and biologics products liability claims, as well as toxic tort claims involving diesel exhaust, PHAs, pesticides, asbestos, talc, microsilica, silica and benzene. She has also represented several clients in multidistrict litigation proceedings and clients in a variety of industries in product defect claims. As a result, Caffrey has a deep understanding of these claims across a wide array of machinery, tools, equipment and related applications. Her automotive experience includes investigating failures of electric powered vehicles and other equipment, such as gantries and forklifts.
Caffrey also represents two Class I railroads in their Pennsylvania-area litigation, ranging from complex preemption issues and the defense of significant third-party personal injury claims. She was twice presented with an Excellence in Trial Advocacy Award by CSX Transportation Inc. and has been twice listed in Chambers USA in the category of Product Liability and Mass Torts – Nationwide. In addition to serving as co-chair of Duane Morris’ Trial Practice Group and a member of the Executive Committee and Partners Board, Caffrey spearheaded the firm’s COVID-19 Strategy Group and counseled clients on issues related to COVID-19 liability prevention.
