Duane Morris Partner Edward Cramp Named San Diego Office Head

Edward CrampSAN DIEGO, June 21, 2011—Duane Morris LLP has appointed partner Edward M. Cramp managing partner of the firm's San Diego office. Cramp, at 39 years old, will be the youngest office managing partner in Duane Morris' 24 offices. He succeeds Christopher Celentino, who has led the San Diego office since 2005.

"Chris Celentino has done an excellent job in leading the San Diego office in the last several years," said Duane Morris Chairman John Soroko. "He has made our growing San Diego team a visible and strong player in a competitive market, and will continue to do so through the expansion of his legal practice and other business activities for Duane Morris. He is an acknowledged leader of the San Diego legal and business community, and we are very proud of his success and influence."

"Ed Cramp has had significant success as a partner in our Trial group, and particularly in connection with his postsecondary school clients, ever since joining Duane Morris," Soroko said. "He has been increasingly involved in recruiting and other leadership roles, and I am confident that he will continue our efforts in San Diego."

Cramp focuses his practice on representing private postsecondary schools and colleges. He advises his clients in all areas of operations, including the application of state and federal laws, regulations and accreditation standards. Cramp represents and advises clients in civil rights matters, which involve defending against claims by students and employees in areas such as ADA law. He also advises clients on business issues that include mergers and acquisitions, licensing, trademarks and copyrights.

Cramp serves as general counsel to the American Association of Cosmetology Schools. He is also a past member of the board of directors of the San Diego Association of Business Trial Lawyers. He is a graduate, with honors, of the Illinois Institute of Technology's Chicago–Kent College of Law and a graduate of the University of California, Riverside.

Celentino has decided to refocus his attention on his growing practice at Duane Morris, which includes his work representing the official creditors' committees in numerous bankruptcy proceedings. He was recently named as upcoming president of the California Bankruptcy Forum, an organization for insolvency and debtor/creditor professionals. In his community-service efforts, Celentino has been instrumental in launching Old Town Academy, a San Diego charter school that will open with 180 students in the fall.
